A sign of better times...a few months ago, I would have been in court trying whatever nasty felony of the week was on the docket. A few weeks ago, I would have been wandering around the house in tears, wondering if I had made the biggest mistake of my life by moving here. Now I'm sitting home in my pajamas, hair all catawampus, eating spinach dip and corn chips for breakfast, working on the second chapter of my novel. Finally.
And don't go all Simon on me, Nick. I'm no writer. I'm just a person who likes to write. Really. ; - P

And YOU ARE A WRITER, Catelin. A great one. Lilah was asking me if you and David would ever be coming out to the Cat to read again :)

Oh, I would LOVE to read again. You just let me know when and I'm soooo there!
And I would be so happy to see Lilah for longer than two seconds...I just saw her going out the door when we were at your place last time.

A person who just likes to write, however, might be worried about the errant strand of spinach and check (read: edit) their teeth at least once or twice throughout the day.
Smile for us later, would ya? We won't tell ya either way ;)
ps: At any rate, whew! Congrats on being at this stage of things!!

I have no clue what this means, have never heard it before but *love* the mental image. Yep, you're a writer. Enjoy your dip :)

In the south, we use it generally to mean askwew and akimbo, all messed up and sticking out funny, that sort of thing.
Here's an interesting tidbit about it's origin. (http://phrases.shu.ac.uk/bulletin_board/10/messages/351.html)
