My children are in Texas. Seems they took the holidays with them when they left. I knew their leaving would be hard for me, but there's something so primal about their being gone. It leaves me wanting to wander in circles and scratch the ground for their scent.

It's not terrible...everything just seems a little surreal. That's normal, though. It will feel that way until this place begins to flesh itself out for me, I think.
