Question: If I am going to spray latex paint all over my basement hopefully-soon-to-be art studio room (walls and ceilings) do I need to shut off the gas furnace? Or the pilot light in the water heater? This is a small room (maybe 12 x 12) where the water heater and the furnace are. I will probably frame in a small closet around both of these eventually, mabye even before I paint. I know that with any other sort of noxious (oils, etc.) I'd need to make sure I have no sources of ignition when I paint, but I'm thinking that with latex this won't be an issue.

Who knows about this stuff? Show me the love, people.

If it's latex then you should be okay. If it's oil or thinner based, kaboom! As long as you can thin it with water, it's all good.
