I managed to compromise by going much, much darker than my normal color. My hair is dark now...almost gothy looking dark brown. I'm a shade off from looking like Morticia Adams.

That is so funny. I feel the EXACT same way. It's a need for balance. Living in Wichita makes me feel like the walls are closing in. It's so conservative and mundane I can hardly stand it! I went out and bought a box of bright red hair color. Ahhhh... that oughtta hold me for a little while.
