When I was small, we'd drive through the desert. I'd watch the asphalt glitter in the heat, sure that the sparkle was stardust fallen on the road. Now that I'm an old broad, there's no better feeling than to glimpse a bit of that stardust from time to time. Keeps me faithful to the concept that words are powerful mojo.

Beginnings...they have always annoyed me. Not that I don't like to start new things; it's just the initial point of departure that I prefer to get past as soon as possible. I adore change yet find a sublime comfort in the few static threads that weave my life together. As I get older I realize that my wanderlust (both physical and virtual) is born of luxury. The choice to remain in one place lingers like a warm bed that I can always crawl back into.
