In a way winter is the real spring, the time when the inner things happen, the resurge of nature.
----Edna O'Brien

Big things are going on for me, but I'm finding that I don't want to talk about them here. It's not that I don't want to share. It's simply that I haven't yet found the words to properly convey all of the shades and textures of it all. There is a story coming, though; and springtime is perhaps more appropriate for its telling than winter, so I'll let it hibernate a while longer.

It's been a quiet time for me of late, but I do still read and keep up with everyone even though I haven't been writing or commenting much. I'm off to the freezing north for a week. See some of you soon. : )

Oh, and for Scott: It was always obvious that Grendel was the real hero. You remember that too, ok?

It's as if you're pregnant with a story- I look forward to its arrival in spring.

Silence is important part of the process....

It's just nice to know you're there... :) Hugs, Deb

Wow!!! I would have responded sooner, but I've been swamped and trying to catch up with things. This is great stuff! Is this someone you know? Or just know of? I'd love to get a hold of him. Care to serve as Mlle. Translator once again? ; )

Re:

i'd love to, but unfortunately, he died a few years ago - was murdered, actually - the article in the first link tells the story. i've never heard of this person before, i was also pointed to the link. i'm not sure who is running the site with the pictures, and i think there is an ongoing battle over the rights of ownership to his surviving negatives, between his teacher and his mom (?). if you want, i can translate the article for you - it's quite sad, really.

Oh, that's so sad. I didn't even look at any of the text...not that I could have understood much anyway...my Russian is rudimentary, at best. But yeah, I'd love to read the article, whenever you get time to translate it. Thanks!
