Hair does grow back, but you know how it is with the long hair. It's hard to let go of it. I think about cutting mine, but I know myself well enough to know better.
I know what you mean! My solution has been cutting all my "stragglers" to about an inch; I've developed a combo short/long haircut. (I will NOT use the m-word. NO!) It's a tousled thing, a bit messy (like everything about me :D). I put my hair back & it passes for short...now I don't feel so Summer Of Love! A pro could do the same thing to give you that cut, selectively? (Cutting some around the entire hairline, along with the front and top are essential.) (I'm lucky that I have a ton of hair, though it's a bit limpish, so I can cut a lot and still have a lot uncut. It's fun!)
Ok, now I'm dying to see a pic of your hair since I can't even imagine what kind of haircut this is. (And, no, I won't use the M-word either!! Hehehe!)
yo también siempre tengo la curiosidad por hacer algo así con mi cabellera pero soy una gallina.bah sí lo haces y no te gusta siempre existe una buena peluca como opción. *risas*
i think its nice...and would probably look fabulous on you, you have great facial features, from what i can tell.
i kept long hair (mid back length) for about 10 years. last summer i cut it short, and i was very anxious to do so, but i absolutely love it. it was strange at first, though...but i DID feel younger, sexier, and much more "hip". i enjoy feeling the breeze on the back of my neck.
mine wasn't as closely cropped as the picture you posted. that probably would have made me lose my mind...i went for a shaggy choppy look with long bangs the first time...you can sort of see it in this icon...now i have an a-line bobbish 'do. i love it, reminds me of lots of my friends hair during my 80s heyday. :)
i think if you really want to cut your hair, you will KNOW it. i did.
if you go through with it, make sure you take the time to look up a fabulous stylist with whom you can feel comfortable. its a little less nerve wracking that way.
I remember when you cut your hair! And I loved it. I'm still in the Walter Mitty fantasizing stage for now. I may get there, or not. I may end up one of those old ladies with grey stringy braids, but that's alright too. : )
Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. I cut my hair radically twice in my life. It has been mosly long or shoulder length.
Here's a thought...is your hair longer than 12 inches now? If so ,cut it and donate it to wigs for kids, or a group of that sort. Then if you don't like the short , it grows back and you helped some child. It you like it short, you helped some child. Not bad either way.
love the doo. But you must wear stilletos with a doo like that
I did cut my hair from waist length to chin length about 15 years ago. I did donate my hair for wigs (I don't think it was specifically for kids, but it was a group that made wigs for cancer patients), so I would definitely do that again if I were getting a bunch chopped.
If I were sure it would look better than what I have now, I'd do it in a minute. I've always said that if I had the face for it, I'd cut my hair like Annie Lennox in her heyday. Alas, I'm not sure and not willing to take the risk. It is fun to think about sometimes, though.
I have the tendancy to cut my hair super short, even that short once, and then immediately start growing it out. I love my hair short, but once I get it short, I want it long, and when I have it long, I want to cut it, to rebel. We do what we gotta do. If it gets to that point where you're either gonna cut/dye your hair or rob a bank, then you go girl!
Mine was mid-bac length, ponytail for years. This summer, I had it cut to about 1/4". I love it! Of course, I may not say that when it's 12 below in February :-) It sure takes a lot less time to fuss with.
Wow, that is a big change! I bet it's much easier. I know better than to do something like this on a whim, because that's where the real regrets come in. I'll probably mull it over for a couple of years now. Perhaps I'll celebrate my 40th birthday but cutting off all my hair. : )
oh another beautiful cate, (thats cate blanchett, right?)
i say yes - and not just once!
YES YES YESSS!!!!!
i too wear my 'do' quite short, and then always wonder how it would be to have long, toussled locks. however...i cant really explain it, but i feel so much more confident and sexy and, hell, even just, stronger with my short, short hair. i feel that people are looking at ME and not my hair. i slap some goo on it, push it around a bit, and i'm out the door. it's wonderful, AND super easy to color and to *change* color often!
I just can't be impartial about short cuts...I like em too much cause they're no trouble..course when my hair was shoulder length..I wore it in braids fairly often..cause they were easy too.....
That is a gorgeous cut and I think you definitely have the bone structure (and looks) for it. I know it's hard to give up long hair (I had hair down my back about 5, 6 years ago) but it does grow back and short hair shows off pretty faces. But of course it's ultimately your decision and your hair. And braids are fun.
When I was a kid, long hair was in... but my mother made me keep it short, and in the humidity, it kinked. Everyone else looked like Joan Baez, and I looked like a poodle (before poodle do's were in, or even Afros...)
Now it is long. If I want it off my neck, clean or dirty, I twist it and TIE IT IN A KNOT, sort of like a bun... Real handy. Long live Frizzies...

Although really, look who's talking. I've been thinking about cutting my hair for years now and I've not done it.
