Back in the Saddle Again

After four days of back-breaking 12-hour days, I'm finally moved and the old place is just a memory. The slumlord sent me several threatening letters demanding various amounts of money depending on her mood. I tolerated it for as long as I could, but finally ended up sending a nasty little missive to her on the intricacies of contract law. Haven't heard a peep from her since, other than a polite "thank you" for the balance of my last month's rent. I'm still surrounded by mountains of unpacked boxes but I'm gloriously happy and not quite convinced that this isn't some strange dream. I went back to work today, giddy and exhausted...desperately longing for the weekend.

I was amazed at how stressful it all was...even though I was beside myself with sheer glee. I will probably be showing off a bit once I get things a little more ordered. It's a great house though...custom built for this old couple. It's stucco, on two lots (huge yards in back and front) about 1400 square feet (not including an oversized two-car garage). There's a floored attic for even more storage. Saltillo tile floors through most of the house, except for the 3 bedrooms. Solid oak cabinets all over and solid oak doors throughout. Crown molding through the whole house. High ceilings. A big walk-in closet for the clothes whore in me. A giant deck and a goldfish pond with a fountain in the back. It's the exact house I would have built for myself. I'm still reeling from my luck in finding it!

That sounds absolutely amazing. What good luck! Jeff and I are already trying to figure out how we can make a jacuzzi under a gazebo happen in our new back yard... there are sliding glass doors from the master bedroom into the yard, and we have these visions of stepping out of the bedroom and heading straight for the warm water. :)
