I've actually been on this crazy Miles Davis/T-Bone Walker kick lately. I downloaded Kind Of Blue and Bitches Brew by Miles, and OH MY GOD what a difference a Decade makes. I'd never know it was the same musician-he's just that awesome.
Also, Six Feet Under *the EXCELLENT show on HBO that has their season finale tonight :-(* used a T-Bone walker song on one of their episodes called "Strugglin' Blues" which I downloaded, and as a result I downloaded a metric ton of his other stuff and have just been groovin' on it. He's got that perfect melodic blues thing going; this is perfect music to drift off to sleep to. You should check him out.
We both love baseball (but I'm a Rangers fan--even though they manage to blow it every stinkin' season...Dodgers are my second fave) and we both love Six Feet Under. Weird, along with all the other common ground. Steven, we are kindred spirits; I'm sure of it. Miles...there's so much I could say about him, but I don't have the time I need this morning to do justice to what his music is to me. Although I'm not a blues fanatic, I do like T-Bone Walker...perhaps I'll revisit his stuff and give it a listen.
Sorry, watched Treasure Of The Sierra Madre last week *Turner Classic Movies and American Movie Classics OWN MY SOUL...but thats an entry for my own journal* and when I read the Dodgers I said it out loud just like that: "Dodgers?"
I suppose I should explain a bit: my mom was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan, so when they moved to LA, she grew to not like them, so my dislike is inherited. And of course I absolutely LOATHE the Yankees, but then, who doesn't? *grin*
As far as kindred spirits, I think I have to agree, although you don't share the fondness for Hookers and Cocaine that I do. Okay, okay, kidding, I don't really like hookers that much.
Okay, I don't like Cocaine either, I'm more of a heroin kind of...
MAN. Okay, I'll stop. I'm just kind of in a weird mood today, as I'm sure you can tell. I meant no offense, of course.
