There is always a balance between honesty and its price for me. I rarely make anything but public posts anymore, but given the chance, however slight, that my inlaws might come across my last entry I have chosen to lock it to friends only. It would be extremely hurtful to them if they knew what he had really done, so I will err on the side of caution out of respect for them. They've endured enough and deserve as much blissful ignorance as they can get.

It is scary for me to think about how any one of us can be caught in a con. I always pride myself on being able to "read people", but I've been sucked in too. I hate the shame.

I don't really even think of it as a con so much as him just not being honest...with me, with himself, with anybody.

Ah sweet, I'm hoping some peace arrives for you soon. Tonight I listened to a phone message from someone who in my infinite wisdom I thought might be "the one" - a call that violates the restraining order I have against him. Once again I am considering whether I have to change my number or be stubborn.

Life has many lessons, I hope you stay open despite this experience.

He's a blip on my radar in the big scheme of things, Jenny. I'm going to be fine. I actually feel so much better now that he's out of the house. It was that feeling of "no escape" that was making it so awful...now I see a very clear, open horizon ahead. : )
