I was woken up this morning around 5 a.m. by a phone call from detectives, dealing with yet another unbelievablely depressing crime that occurred in the wee hours. It could have been worse is about all I can say. That's about all you can ever say. I'm convinced that the human race is going to breed itself out of existence. Bah. I'm definitely ready for a vacation. Less than two weeks now until my last official "visit" back east before the big move. Time seems to move slowly and quickly all at once, probably the consequence of having so many things to do and wanting to already have them done. In another strange turn of events, I may have a paid gig writing erotic stories for graphic novels. That's smutty comics to us common folk. The thought of paying my law student loans with the proceeds from stories about people getting fucked seems to be the funniest sort of poetic justice. My life cracks me up sometimes. It's too hot today to do anything other than lie around in a state of semi-dress and semi-conciousness---alternating between napping, reading, and watching old movies; so that's exactly what I'm going to do.

The other night someone said to me take away the blindfold and the scale and justice is just a lady with a big sword

if it pays the rent go for it

Ha! Believe me, sometimes justice is a lady with a big sword! As for the other, I don't think it will pay the rent, but it might buy me a nice pair of shoes every once in a while. ; )

This is going to be a really lame question, as I'm sure you've already posted the answer, and I've been too busy to read it...

Are you still going to be a lawyer when you move east?

Not a lame question at all. I'm definitely planning to take the NJ bar exam next summer. In the meantime, I'm just going to hang about and see what sort of part-time low stress work I can drum up. I've also already contacted an immigrants rights group near where I live and I'll probably be doing a lot of pro bono stuff for them. I'm seriously thinking about going into private practice again because the flexible schedule appeals to me. Not having to be the sole financial supporter of my family is new territory for me, but it's soooooo nice to have so many new options knowing that I have a supportive (both literally and figuratively) partner.

Somehow

I can't picture you flipping burgers, which certainly is NOT a high stress job... Low pay as a bene, as well... LOL!

Ha! Oh, yes! And I agree with you about the lady Nin! She's always a good read and Delta of Venus is a delight. : )

I don't understand how we humans can be so beautifully incredible and so horrifically disgusting. Sometimes, it really tears my mind apart, the conundrum.

THAT GIG! PERFECT! I LOVE IT!

Can't WAIT to see you, girl.

We're going to be in the city during the week of the 7th. I'll give you a call and let you know when exactly, but we'll definitely do something!

I'm sure you deserve a vacation more than just about anyone. I sit here and wonder how you deal with the filth and decay of society and still go do it day after day.

Should you run out of ideas for your erotic stories, I know of a few talented female writers who just might be able to inspire you to add an interesting concept when you are out of ideas.

Then there are us men, granted smut from my perspective may be quite different from a woman's point of view but hey! I'm also willing to help.

I was talking to a friend of mine about this the other day. We were both wondering why we put up with all the crap. As hard as it is, there's always a balance. Always a good for every bad thing we see. So while we see the worst of what people can be, we also see the best. That's what keeps us all sane. Well, semi-sane.

Oh, and I'll be sure to call you if I run low on smutty thoughts. ; P

I want to be you. Well, in terms of the smutty comics, not the depressing crimes. Though I can handle those too.

Heh! Comics rule in general. Smutty comics rule specifically. ; )

Oh, C!! It sounds like we are just going to miss each other! I'll be there from the 4th to the 12th. : ( As long as you have family out that way, though, I suppose our chances for finally seeing one another at some point will be improved.

Tattoos

I worry about the weirdest things. Did you get that fantastic tattoo that you had the outline of done? If not, will a different tattoo artist be able to pick right up and carry on satisfactorily? (Not something I'd want to do two or three times, assuming it was even possible!)

Re: Tattoos

Oh, that's not a weird thing at all. First on my mind was getting it finished before I leave---which will happen. I have one more marathon session (probably 4-5 hours) left and maybe a little touch-up. I'll definitely be done before I go. : )

Re: Tattoos

Does that require your active participation, or can you take a good sleeping pill and awake all gorgeous five hours later???

Re: Tattoos

I wish!! Unfortunately, I have to stay awake for the process. I do use lidocaine gel to deaden the really painful parts (along my ribcage and spine--ouch!). The pain part of it is a drag. I know there are some people who get into the pain of being tattooed. I'm not one of those people. I'm a wimp!
