At some point today, if I can muster the energy, I'll climb through the boxes in my garage to find the one marked "X's" so I can finally find the pictures of my ex who looks so much like ubu that it startles me. Every time he posts photos of himself, I have to look twice and shake the nostalgia cobwebs out of my head. Kinda strange to keep seeing the younger, smarter version of someone I used to love so much.

X's

There was a woman who broke my heart, stamped on it, chopped it up into little pieces, spat on it and threw it out to rot. I needed to forget her, unfortunately, she worked in the same building as me. FOR THE NEXT 17 YEARS!!! ouch.

Re: X's

A year ago I left that job and the sight of her (although by now I was not interested in her anymore but pain fades, it doesn't die, little pin pricks now and then). Three months ago I went to a private hospital for something incredibly minor and who should I bump into there, indeed, her. Sometimes I think she is destined to haunt me forever.

Sounds like you're doing much better than I would have after 17 years of being rubbed raw. Pangs (whether of past or future longings) are awful little beasts, though, aren't they? Nasty emotional gremlins that get in there and try to muck things up just when we're cruising along enjoying the scenery.

Re: X's

I think I probably became somewhat immune to her by the end. I could only beat myself so much and as time passed I had less and less reason to. It did sometimes suddenly creep up and bite me on the backside when I wasn't expecting it though. Oh the stories I could tell about her and I. Probably best left to die though.
