The exhibition bout was amazing fun! We had a sold out crowd and about three hundred more who were outside. I had no idea until it was all over how many people we had show up, but it was a great time and all of us felt really crazy good about the upcoming season. First time jitters are now out of the way and we're totally looking toward March 2006. My dad took some pics at the bout, so any of you who want to take a look can find them here.

You must have had so much fun!! My roller derby understanding is a little delayed--what's an exhibition bout?

Glad I'm not the only one wondering. It's been great seeing you having so much fun, but I *was* wondering! Not really sure I know what roller derby is, either...

It was a sort of pre-season competition where our league split into two teams to give everyone in San Antonio an introduction to flat track roller derby. Our regular season starts in March, where we'll have four teams competing against each other through to September. This was just a little taste of things to come. : )

2 things!

A) I have that pair of green and black striped skull socks too! I think I may be one of the few people who buy Halloween socks at Halloween with the intention of wearing them all year!

b) Roller derby! Hell yeah---that's what I'm talking about!!!!!

You are one of the two! Ha! I sure wish you could have seen it in person. I'm still hoping for a Blackhellkat/Texas summit one of these days!

It brings back such happy memories of watching the LA Thunderbirds on Saturdays, circa 1970. Our favorite racer was a scrappy little hellion-on-wheels named Judy Sawinski (sp). She was constantly mixing it up, kicking over the bench, throwing her helmet, fighing with the referee . . .

A little bit of love is always good! ; )

I have a big giant size backpiece. I'll see if I can dig up a picture of it and post it here.

oh and please do. i'm toying with a back piece, and all those pics made me want to add some color to my otherwise greyscale work.
