August in Texas pisses me off. I'm a hothouse flower, mind you, and the heat normally doesn't bother me a bit. But August is different. August makes me want to shave my head, get naked, and run around screaming "FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU!" to everyone and everything all at once. August brings out the hermit in me and it's not uncommon that I'll go the entire month without returning a phone call. It's too hot to talk. It's too hot to move. Nothing is comfortable and everything rubs at me like a cactus splinter that drifts across my hand, invisible but no less irritating than the things I can see with my hateful eyes.

I've been up early this morning, fuming while everyone sleeps. I had fantasies about clanging through the house with pots and pans, blasting The Dicks at full volume, making every kind of angry noise possible. August brings out the punk ass in me, in all the worst ways.

Interesting tha tyou should post this. Just the other day, another TX friend (solipsiae) posted to say that any temperature over 100 should be translated as "FUCK YOU."

Hi! I normally just read your journal and don't comment, but I have to tell you I feel exactly the same for the two weeks of hot, humid stickiness we get here in the NW every August. All I want to do then is sit naked in the kids wading pool and drink rum and coke.

i feel exactly the same way. oklahoma this time of year reminds me of a hot, sweaty armpit. i love it when it rains...otherwise I stay indside.

The thing that pisses me off about Texas heat and humidity is that when it's hot like this, it never really cools off. The temperature drops a bit at night, but the humidity goes up--there's just no relief.

Forty something days of 100+ days is enough to make people insane. I love summer too but aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Ha, I'd forgotten that August was ever hot. Now I know I'm truly settled into Australian life. It's freezing here. Literally. I went skiing last week.

I'm not the greatest player, but yeah! 42 was the game all the grownups in my family played when we all got together. I wish I were closer to Austin because I'd totally be down for this.
