While unpacking boxes this weekend, I ran across a copy of a book containing the letters of Peter Abelard and Heloise. That combined with the lovely sight of a postcard from a friend in my mailbox has prompted me to declare my own writing spree. Many of you already know that I much prefer written correspondence to e-mail. Ever the gentleman, [livejournal.com profile] notwolf worked his alchemy and turned my foible into a grace. When the seasons change, I find myself longing for letters...to write them, to receive them...the urge for little pieces of the tether that binds us. So I'm going to indulge myself this autumn and send out as many postcards and letters as I can. If you would care to receive something from this correspondence junkie, send me along your address. You will find my electronic one here.

I find I keep in much better touch with people I know when I can use email.. but there is something so special about letters, perhaps because they are so rare in my life - I used to have so many penfriends, so many pieces of paper winging their way around the world, so many interesting envelopes and stamps arriving from far-off lands... :)
