RAWA is an organization that Oprah featured on her show about the atrocities that women suffer in other countries. It is a horrible life that Afghanistan women are living.

I was wondering what the Oprah reference was when I found the site. That's good...that means more people know about this group than I thought. : )

Cate, trust you...

to come up with the pertinent link. In my own journal, I just posted an entry saying my fantasy is that the persecuted women of the Taleban, and the wives of the terrorists will all wake up at the same instant and stab their husbands while they sleep.

Re: Cate, trust you...

i dig that one, i sketched out a novel back in college where a sci-fi/fantasy variation on something vaguely islamlike (feminism comes before ethnic tolerance on my list of priorities..) where the women rise up, and leave about one out of fifty men live, so they get to have fifty-chick harems and are treated most luxuriously, but chicks run the show. and of course they do a better job.

had another story similar to it i should try and dig up, it's horrible writing but maybe i can bring it back from the dead... thanks for the inspiration
