I cleaned my house and my garage. I set up my work/sewing bench so I can do those many crafty/artsy things I do. I wrote letters. I played outside with my kids in weather that was just too good to be real. I half-waited for a phone call in vain..."because a lady should never really wait for any phone call. Why, that's just silly." That's quoting my grandmother. I received another phone call that I wasn't expecting. I read my Tarot cards...still pondering that. I missed the annual American Indian gathering that they have every year at the lake...first time in a couple of years. I got a wonderful postcard out of the blue! Thank you! I got mad and stayed mad...but not for long. I worked on a story called "Cloche Hats"---remains to be seen what will become of it. I had a nice e-mail from a publisher interested in my work. I pulled some things from my old life down out of my attic. I got hit on by one of the best looking bikers I've seen in ages standing in line at the store....Helllooooo Sam Elliot! I rode naked on the back of a Harley, years ago, outside of Bastrop before there was really anything out there. My hair whipped behind me and I laughed into the wind from the sheer stupid joy of it. I hung curtains the color of butter in my kitchen. I cut more rosemary and gave the boys a bath. I'm thinking of making dream pillows again. Mostly, I'm just feeling fat and sassy...like all is right with the world...at least in my little golden corner of it. So I'm gonna put my feet up and have a nice cup of tea, a bath, and clean sheets to fall into on my bed.

Now that sounds like a positively lovely day!

And the naked on the back of the Harly? Bliss! That sounds positively freeing! I remember last year this time, I was in Hawthorne...just walking to my favorite used bookstore...when here on bicycles came about 10 women riding naked down the street! I smiled the most silly grin.....I believe I yalped along with them in exhultation!

Oh....to be that brave! ;) my nudity stays in nature far away from peering eyes...except for the squirrels and ants!

Care to share how to make dream pillows? Sounds soothing...I've made little pillow sachet's made of lavendar before...

Mmm....going to log off soon.....and enjoy the evening... ~wisteria

Re:

You know, Deb, I would be absolutely delighted to make you a dream pillow if you'd like. : ) I can't promise how quickly I'll get it done...but I would be thrilled to give you a keepsake to remind you how much I've enjoyed your company here.

Oh, and another thing...I don't think I'd be that brave anymore...It'd likely be my breasts whipping behind me in the wind these days, sister! Heh!

Two things.

1. Your icon is both honest and breathtakingly beautiful. Maybe one because of the other, but I don't know which.

2. The mere mention of Sam Elliot may well have given my libido a much needed jumpstart. Talk about my all time favorite heart throb!

Re: Two things.

Wow!! Thanks! : ) Yep, Sam Elliot is definitely one of the most beautiful people ever made...and I love how he's getting all wiry and rugged looking as he ages.

Oh, and while I'm thinking of it...because I somehow didn't comment on it before...but your hubby looks a bit like Gabriel Byrne...a VERY good thing, indeed!

The last time I rode naked on the back of a Harley I was arrested and charged with three counts of violating the "Beautify America" laws.
I was, however, invited to become the Assistant Grand High Aardvark of the East Cambridge Ostrogoths.

Remember the commercial?

Hahahaha!! Oh, dear! You know, Ken, I'm just picturing you zooming by and then the lone Indian standing by the highway in dismay with a single tear dropping from his eye! Heehee!!!

Hehe! Oh, the stories I could tell! You know, I am starting to realize who lucky I am...of course, there's always something one wishes she had done in the past...but my life has been full of the good stuff. I'm very grateful for that. : )

my first *real* ride (dunno what exactly makes it real, some combo of scenery, driver & helmetlessness) up and down the gravel roads between mesas out near paonia CO, up to this place i was gonna spend the rest of my life writing kids books with a guy who turned out to be manic-depressive and wouldn't leave his sleeping bag for days, flourescent university ranch. they had two goats, one healing from buckshot & the other tried to gut me & just managed to poke through my shorts & get hooked. stong little bastards. i kept creeping my hand closer and closer to his boobie till he finally called me on it (coz we hadn't started dating yet coz i hadn't left colorado with him yet for a ride out to massachusetts...). my hair ended up in a giant knot a couple of folks helped me tease apart, hair by hair, while watching Deer Hunter for the first time, at the house of a schizo vietnam vet with a pool table and a very noticeable, wide, shallow dent in his upper forehead which he finally got tired of me sneaking
peeks and told me it was a metal plate. the guy was cute (i have a csnner, should post a pic) but lousy in bed & one of those *guy* guys and i got my uncle in hadley to come get me & drive me home to port kent NY where i was gonna try and chill out and see a shrink and do something about this raging wanderlust, but i skipped town within a month for the next adventure that brought me eventually to austin :)

I was always a coffee person, but I've been drinking herbal teas lately...since I quit smoking...and they're not bad at all!!

Can I add that this icon is your best? It's strong, intelligent, thoughtful -- really, I think it captures the Cate we know. It's beautiful. Like the things you write.

Thanks for that! What cracks me up is how completely unphotogenic I really am! These are a few of the exceptions. I was just telling someone today that most of the pictures of me are the good old one eye closed, look of "huh?", cross-eyed, wrinkled brow variety! : )

"cloche hats". The phrase is evocative, as are the hats themselves.

Thanks for sharing a beautiful day and some interesting memories. I adored "Mask".
