I've been up for a while now, puttering around, flitting from one thing to another. I calculated approximately how many words a day I will have to produce to keep up in my upcoming writing contest with the evil genius [livejournal.com profile] rockstarbob. I did some half-hearted geneology research on an issue that I am beginning to doubt will ever be resolved. My great-great grandfather was named Elenipsico. If you recognize that as a Shawnee name, you are correct. For about a year now, I've been trying to trace his native lineage for tribal recognition to no avail. The world of the past is full of false starts and dead-ends. There are so many things that go untold to the next generations. Perhaps it is the scribe in me, but if there is anything that makes me profoundly sad it is the lost stories of people. Alan and Amanda are here. They braved the rain to come babysit me this weekend. We watched Gangs of New York and 24 Hour Party People. And now I'm going to wash the dogs. Ah, my crazy life.
