Bruce Campbell is going to be in Austin next week. I will be making the drive up there for that. How do I break the news to my kids' Daddio that he'll have to pick them up from swimming lessons on Thursday so I can go to Bookpeople and propose to the man I love?

"Gimme some sugar, baby" always seems to work for me. That is, it would work if I had the guts to actually say it.

BTW: Tell Bruce that "Brisco County" was the greatest thing on television ever. Thanks!

"Gimme some sugar, baby"

That's exactly what I'd ask him to sign in my book. I'm such a dork! Hehe! : )

Re: Errrr...

Yeah, I'll be here. Let me call you though...probably around 11pm my time. I'll explain the magnificence of Bruce then. : )

Alas, I'll be that really annoying person in the back of the line, muttering "Klaatu... barrada... niCOUGHCOUGHCOUGH..."

OMG, what a read that book is going to be! I have it on my list now. Wish he'd get his booty up to Seattle for a reading.

Though honestly, I am so used to LMAO whenever I see him on the screen that I'd probably do that IRL, right in his face..

I'm not sure how I'll behave. I've met so-called famous people, but usually in very different settings (more social than fan-like). There are so few people that I'd actually do this for. I hate crowds; I REALLY hate lines; and I hate waiting---but this is for le Bruce! I've never been to a book signing before. I suppose I'll just shove my book in his face while I grin like an idiot.

Re:

The closer in line I am to the celeb, the more I obsess about what non-chalantly witty thing I am going to say. I silently scoff at and deride each pompous jerk in front of me. And then I promptly behave the same way when it's my turn.

Ahem.

Re: Bruce Campbell in Seattle?

How fun! I like your website too =)

And I'm so glad he has kept a sense of humor about what he does.

He was in Seattle in '98

But I, too, hope he comes back soon for a reading!

I recounted here (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?itemid=5681014)what it was like to meet him in Seattle (actually, Bellevue)when he was here in '98. I'd love to see him again. Besides, my husband has all of the Evil Dead pictures, and he'd love to meet him as well!

Austin!!

I love Austin!! We live in Dallas now, but are planning to move to Austin in the next year. We're down there a lot, visiting friends and family, shopping at Bookpeople (great store!) and Antone's.
I'm not sure who Bruce Campbell is, but I hope your proposal goes well ;-)

Re: Austin!!

I don't live in Austin, but I live close enough to drive in for things that I really want to do. I lived in L.A. for almost a decade before I came back to Texas, so even Austin is a bit too much city for me. I love Austin, though. It's changed a lot over the years, but I still think it's the coolest city in Texas. Oh, and the Bruce thing...he's a B movie actor. I probably will propose to him--all in jest. I propose to different people all the time in my journal, never serious (I'm not the marrying type). But, hey now! I might reconsider if this one says yes! ; )

Re: Yay!!!

ooh ooh ooh, you know, this might easily happen, a friend
of mine moved down there from iowa who i think is dying
from the heat & freaking a bit on big city life, he's a writer of the cloth,
we've been collaborating on and off & writing independantly but very
much aware of one another for like six years, you know, someone you go
halfway across the country to save even if they pshaw the idea.. and to see
the badass da-lady and your kids and alla that.. i'm gonna paster cheetah
about it (i can't drive :) for sometime in the cooler months.
