Anyone wanna tell me something lovely? I've been working on a child sexual assault case all day and could use an antidote. : (

Re: don't know if it'll help, but...

:) I love lending a hand, and it was actually Shay's (http://www.livejournal.com/users/hisbeauty) post right above yours on my friends page that brought that to mind. Healthy does of both are what we need to survive!

Here goes: The sun is up, the sky is blue, it's beautiful, and so are youuuuuuu, Dear...Catelin! Won't you come out to play?

Ok, i admit it-- i didn't write it. :-)

The sky's still beautiful, though.

People who fuck with kids eventually die. Quite often, if apprehended, someone losses their temper and they die unpleasantly.

Well, it cheers me up.

A song for Catelin

Here's a song I wrote when I was 4 years old:

Life is beautiful in the morning
Life is beautiful in the afternoon
Life is beautiful in the evening
But get me to the bathroom soon

Nice sentiment, nonetheless. Your post regarding you and V. was absolutely lovely, by the way. Nothing cheers me up more than a good love story...that actually happened in real life! : )

LOL! Hey, I know that song!! I sing it every day as I'm running to open my front door after I get home from work! ; )

Cate is beautiful and strong and courageous for taking such horrible work on.
I mean that. You are doing a job that is helping, even though I know it doesn't feel that way all the time.

If you want to feel any better than that?
Remember 'the right thing' entry from a couple weeks back?

Hey! That is good news! It is so disgusting to see the system failing kids over and over again...usually after their shitty parents have already failed them from the start. I'm no big fan of CPS (Child Protective Services) sometimes. There are days when I see no rhyme or reason to what they do with removals...and the situations they let some kids stay in. Nice to see when things actually turn out right for a change. : )

I've been stressing so bad over this case...the consequences are serious. I'm going for multiple (stacked) life sentences on this one, so there's a lot of pressure on. It helps when I think of your groovy shoes, though! : )

Again, I value the passion and compassion that your bring towards your job. I'm sure it may push ya close to burnout at times, but ya have to burn in order to shine.

walking past one,
do you want to try for ottawa?
let's keep heading north
where the sun doesn't boil.
five blocks past falling
bricks and caves and signs,
we'll turn around,
it's so far today.

next night past one,
i say, "let's try for oregon."
the steams were rising from the road.
if we had some dollars,
the bus would take us anywhere,
but then we'd miss
these humid steams and stars.

trying to sleep,
the walls were cracking with the heat.
and outside,
the paint was sweating off the walls.
from the roof,
we saw the neighbours were up, too;
and they packed their bags to drive away.

walking past one,
do you want to try for ottawa?

In England, the Speaker of the House is not allowed to speak.

Certain frogs can be frozen solid then thawed, and continue living.

The symbol on the "pound" key (#) is called an octothorpe.

Canada is an Indian word meaning "Big Village".

See? Don't you feel better, already? *hugs*

Cate, I admire you and what you're doing. I know it's harder on your than we can even imagine, taking you into some pits you wish you didn't even have to know existed - but you can do it because you're wondrously strong and tuff and you're making a difference because of it. Hang on tight and wear sexy undies beneath it all.

Oh yeah - and the next little cuddly kitten I see, I'll kiss it on the head and say "That's from Cate." (smooches)

Hahaha! That's great!!!

Hey, I'll be sending some stuff for the journal your way sometime soon (I hope!! With this crazy schedule, I can hardly find the time to sit down and write).

I know the feeling. I have so much in my head to write and no time to write it. No "quiet" time to write it, I should say. But send away when you're ready!

happy things for Cate

I made it home despite the best efforts of the Czech and Dutch airlines. Heh. I went directly to Kerbey to have iced tea, chips, salsa and migas. Yum!

I have a present for you that came all the way from the Czech Republic. So when we have lunch, I'll bring it along. :)

Here is a little nervous song my wife has been singing lately (I have no idea on the tune):

Dutch mints! (and hallibut)
Dutch mints! (and hallibut)
Dutch mints! (and hallibut)
That's what you get for dinnnnnner.

If that doesn't help, how about if I just say thanks for doing it?

Yay! Glad to hear you made it home in one piece. : ) I don't know what your schedule is this week, but it may be a good time to squeeze lunch in before I get started with that trial. Just email me or call (I think you have my numbers...if not let me know) me when you get settled enough.

I did get a koi just yesterday. It's the coolest little fish! I've kept the light off in the tank and laid a towel over half of it for the time being to give him a place to hide to lessen the shock. When I first put him in he just sat there on the bottom for most of the day which made me a little scared but the people at the fish store told me that I probably took a little too much time to acclimate him to the tank. (kept in the bad too long... exchanging water with the tank now and then.) he's woken up now though and cruising around, digging in the gravel. I have to get some large rocks and some plants in there to make the place a little more interesting, both for the fish and for me. but I'm rambling. (thanks for asking. : ) That girl I wrote about at the fish store captured the koi for me. She seemed like she was in a bad mood so I didn't try to strike up a conversation with her. I wonder sometimes if I just take too long to ask girls for dates, making them annoyed with me somehow. I don't know. Eventually I'll talk to her.

You've got a couple beautiful gold fish on your back. if I ever got a tatoo it would be something like that. in a way I'm a little envious. getting a tattoo is something I'd never do (or maybe I would?) because I'm so conservative. I think it'd be cool to have one like yours though.

Hmm. I am not sure where your numbers are in my overstuffed mail box of madness. But I will surely email you. I'm pretty free all week long since I'm not employed yet, so whatever time is best for you. :)

You know, I bet she was just in a bad mood--without it having anything to do with you. I can't imagine anyone getting annoyed with someone for not asking them out...at least, not letting it show. Seems it would be a little counterproductive. I wouldn't take it personally, though.

Fish and dog food for dinner

From: [identity profile] onah.livejournal.com

she did only seem like she was in a bad mood. I didn't think I was adding to it, but I definitely wasn't helping it either, which is too bad. perhaps I misunderstood to begin with (though I really don't think so), or perhaps she's decided I'm not interested so she stopped paying attention, or maybe she was preocupied. it appeared to be a busy day for them. ugh, I read too much into everything. I should just talk to her. hm... I've never asked a girl out that I didn't already know pretty well. I should give it a try. start practicing maybe.

My fish is perking up a little. I think he's going to be a good one.

good luck with the case.
