I know I don't comment much and you don't know me, but I just wanted to say that it's photos like this that make me sad (y a veces feliz) that I'll be out of the US for awhile. It's much harder getting doses of the daily news here (in Mexico).
I'm here for another 3 weeks, but I've been here for 3 already. I'm a Comparative Literature major at the University of Washington with a minor in Spanish (I would have a double major, but I don't have enough time), so I'm taking an intensive Comp Lit class at an institute in Mexico.
What's your background with Mexico? I always love talking about It! : )
I actually have a M.A. in Spanish Literature & Linguistics. I "took a break" from working on my Ph.D. at USC to go to law school and got bit by the trial lawyer bug. I still have delusions about finishing one day (I, too, was going the Comp. Lit. route!)
I've been to Mexico as often as possible since I was about 15, sometimes as a student and later as a teacher. I later began doing a lot of work with Mexican migrant workers who were infected with HIV/AIDS, so I traveled and worked quite a bit with different offices within the Secretaria de Salud...mostly in San Luis Potosi and Michoacan. After I had kids, my travel slowed to a small trickle, but I still go whenever I can.
