These were sitting on my desk waiting on me this morning...photos from a trip to New Orleans we took back in February when we were working on that awful child abuse case. Yes, we REALLY were working!!! We did manage to have a bit of fun, though.

This is one of the sweetest cops I ever met. That's me and one of my dearest friends, the girl detective, schmoozing the New Orleans law.

He gave us lots of beads. And we didn't even have to show him our breasts! ; )

This is us with our nice pagan boy tour guide. We took a walking tour of the cemeteries that was very interesting. We hung out with him that night and he was very sweet. We played video games in an arcade and he had a stud in his tongue. He looks like a short Raul Julia, doesn't he? The other two gals there? I have no idea...they were on the tour but we never saw them again.

I think that's the best behaved I've ever been in New Orleans. Ever. : )

Ha! Look at me with my wine cooler, baby! ; ) Actually, that's pretty tame as far as the Big Easy trips go. The most bizarre was a four-day weekend many years ago where about six of us dressed in Edwardian garb (I mean, that's ALL we wore...for the entire trip) and did the whole absinthe thing (and, yes, for the record, kids, it was BEFORE the whole Perfect Drug craze). It was weird fun...what I remember of it.

Re:

I ended up making it *after* Thanksgiving but yes, yes it was delicious.

=) I now can make stuffing -- I feel so powerful!

Nawlins

I lived in Nawlins for three years, between St. Charles and Magazine, where the Garden District gradually becomes Uptown.
The first Mardi Gras was fun.
The second was okay.
By the third we were pondering which out of town friends we could go visit for a couple of weeks.
But it was a fun town to live in.

Oh I was fine... until I scrolled down to the picture of you in the boots.

Do pass me the smelling salts, would you?

Re: Nawlins

I spent most of my teens in Lafayette...where we'd always say we had the "real" Mardi Gras. ; ) I love New Orleans, but Mardi Gras is actually my least favorite time too...it just happened to work out that we were there then. I never get tired of that town...my favorite time to go is during the Jazz & Heritage Festival...much more fun than Mardi Gras.

Boots, wonky hair, and a silly grin. Definitely the picture that's the most "me" of the three. Thanks for noticing. : )

Made for walking...

I love boots. Got way too many of them. Or not enough. Depends on how you look at it. : )

Re:

Hah! Thanks! I was singing Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" in a Fred Schneider voice on a dare on karaoke night at Barney's Beanery!

But it won me $300! (From a pool made by friends, not any official contest or anything.)

Hahahaha!! Oh, Robert, that's great!!! You know, I spent many hours in that place...a friend of mine lived right across the street so it was an easy place to get to. I actually had a conversation with Slash one night in the girls' bathroom. I still have no idea what he was doing in there....I really didn't want to know. ; )

Re:

Hee! Of course, my first thought was, "what was Slash doing in the girls' bathroom?"

But, you know. He probably knows all the best places to cruise for chicks?

That's sounds wonderful! I would love to see the photos Silvia...o me las puedes mandar por email o puedes mandarme el URL. That would be best, but you would have to upload them to a page on your site so I could see them. However you want to do it is fine with me. Me interesa mucho el concepto del foto-ensayo...y me gustar?a incluir aglo as? en la pr?xima edici?n de la revista. O si tienes otras ideas de lo que te gustar?a hacer, d?me, ok? : )

Mi email es: ccompton@gvtc.com
