Home

Made it back yesterday from Corpus just fine. The roads moved quickly for a mandatory evacuation, not at all like the nightmare scene around Houston. Anyway, I'm home now, far away from where anything will hit...though you wouldn't know it from all the dumbasses that have been buying out water and other supplies.

I've got plenty of friends and family in and around Houston to have me worried sick, though. Nothing to do but wait and see what happens now. : (

Catelin -

If any of your friends or family need a place to stay I have room at my place in far NE Dallas. Holler if you hear from them and they are looking.

Places to stay are in high demand right now. Tues. there were 20,000 hotel rooms available in the Dallas metroplex. Wed. morning there were none available.

You are a sweetie! Such a generous offer! I'll definitely keep that in mind if I hear from anyone who needs shelter. Thank you!!!

My firm put on its intranet on Tues or Wed. a page that people outside of the danger areas could put in their contact info and location and how many people they can accomodate for those employees in the Houston office who are needing shelter.

Of course getting out of the area at this point is impossible. Most people are stuck on the roads in huge traffic snarls. I know a few who have just turned around and headed home and are going to have to wait it out.

I just want to say that is a really cool thing to offer right now.

I did the same thing with Katrina evacuees. Anyone I knew who needed a place or had friends and family and needed a place to shelter the overflow.

None took up the offer as they were all set, but the offer was there just the same.

I just feel it is the decent, human thing to do.
