Home

Some of you might have heard this already from [livejournal.com profile] tsarina, but we arrived early in the a.m. on Monday. It's been a frenzy of activity since then...trips to town for all those little things you forget you need, lots of cleaning, dealing with the movers...you know, all the fun stuff.

I've decided to paint my guest room, so that's what I'll do over the holiday weekend before I get too much put away in there. My neighbor's reaction: Damn girl! Don't you ever sit down and take a break?!?

I think that all this working is good for me. It keeps my mind occupied and I get to bed too tired to really dwell on any bad thing for longer than a second or two before I pass out.

I've got so much to do, but it all feels good. It feels like home. My house still smelled sweet, even after months of sitting empty. It made me and Amanda smile big wide smiles at each other the second we walked in the door. Before, when I was in New Jersey and I would picture crossing the threshold of my little house, I imagined that I might cry; but all I could do was smile and laugh.

"You know I don't normally go in for all that hippie bullshit," she said, "But your house has such a good aura!"

And she's right. My house has loving arms that wrap around anyone who comes inside. It makes me proud, because I know that it's my love and care that created this place.

So here I am, part J-Lo, part Dorothy...realizing that marriages may come and go, Papi; but there's no place like home!

As always C, your words are beautiful and touch me. I'm so happy for you to be in "your place". There is no greater feeling.

Welcome home! I have been so inspired by the way you have lived that last chapter of your life; thank you for sharing it with us all. Before you know it, all that happened will seem like a dream.
